Trauma Awareness

Our entry level course for survivors and supporters – this one day workshop aims to help participants become more aware about trauma, its impact and what is needed to help survivors recover and heal. Topics covered include:

different types of trauma – how often it happens – the science behind trauma – the impact of trauma throughout life – the journey of recovery

Essential Survival Skills

Designed mainly for survivors, this course taught over one day or four two hour sessions aims to teach survivors of trauma some of the basic knowledge and skills they need to move forward on their journey of recovery. Topics covered include:

your brain on trauma – grounding techniques – shifting anxiety – helpful communication

Mindfulness and Trauma

Meditation and mindfulness are powerful ways to deal with anxious thoughts and feelings, and to find clarity and peace. This one day workshop is suitable both for survivors, and those who support them. During the day participants will learn about the role played by mindfulness and meditation in helping survivors to recover and heal; along with a number of practices and techniques to help survivors to ground themselves, and find peace, stillness and calm.

Trauma First Aid

This one day course equips individuals, supporters and organisations working with survivors of trauma to provide effective, immediate support to survivors in crisis. A number of practical topics will be covered, including:

understanding trauma responses – identifying when someone is triggered – helping survivors to ground – appropriate aftercare – when to seek further help

Understanding Complex Trauma

This two day course is aimed at helping individuals and organisations supporting survivors to understand the particular challenges faced by those who have developed complex post-traumatic stress disorder (cPTSD) as a result of extensive abuse or other trauma. Topics covered will include:

identifying complex trauma – the impact of childhood abuse – understanding dissociation – models of the traumatised self – a framework for recovery
